    The Pink Door

    Seattle

This recording was Orville's and my submission to the Beatles Ukulele Page, which eventually will have an example of every song written by the Beatles performed with a ukulele in the recording.

Aloha Oe Blues was written by Johnny Noble in 1927, the year the Royal Hawaiian Hotel opened on Waikiki  Beach in Honolulu. Johnny was the kingpin of the commercial music scene at the time, and penned many catchy and sentimental tunes played by the local bands, sometimes making their way across the blue pacific to become hits on the mainland.

This song was one of the first I covered in 1971, with the Pep Boys in Pasadena, CA.  Eventually, I hope to dig a track or two out of the musty shelves for some amused listening.
